The Yerevan branch was established in 1998 as a department of the Moscow State University of Service (MGUS). Our aim is to educate staff for the tourism and hospitality business. It has become a branch of the MGUS in 2007 (license A № 255768 dated April, 4, 2007).
Before we were set up, we have considered as a vocational institution of higher education, mainly training staff for the industry of tourism and hospitality in Armenia. We have proved ourselves more and more with the time.
MISSION – to train highly competent staff for the tourism & hospitality industry.
AIM – to meet the needs of highly competent personnel of a new generation in this industry.

Nowdays, the Yerevan branch Moscow State University of Service appears:

1. to be the leading institution of higher education in Russia which trains staff for the tourism & hospitality industry. Today there are 1000 students in the branch.
2. to employ highly competent faculty of 20 professors (among whom there are 9 Ph.Ds). The institute also invites prominent guest lecturers to share their knowledge, skills and experience.
3. to be in close and efficient cooperation with the industry. Our students have workshops at leading domestic and foreign enterprises.
4. to be proud of its up-to-date equipment. In the Institute there are:
1. 6 information technology classrooms designed to admit 75 students at a time;
2. 2 language laboratories seating 10 students each;
3. a library with a reading hall
4. a publishing department with up-to-date equipment
5. lecture rooms equipped with computers, overhead projectors, TV-sets
5. to have all the computers interconnected in the local network with Internet access.

High demand for competent specialists causes a particular interest in graduates who get education at the Institute. The Institute for tourism & hospitality teaches and trains staff to work for the tourism & hospitality industry, the students majoring in “Social & Cultural Service” (with a bias towards either “Tourism” or “Hospitality”), “Enterprise Management” (with “Hotel and Tourism business” bias), “Enterprise Economics and Management”, “Tourism” and “Linguistics”.
The Institute provides both state-financed and fee-paying education.
The Institute offers full-time, part-time and distance education, besides there is an opportunity to get second higher and further education. College graduates can take advantage of a shorter term of studies. The educational process lasts from 3 to 6 years depending on the specialty and form of education.
The Institute also provides preliminary (foundation) courses, professional retraining and upgrading programmes for those who work for the tourism and hospitality industry.
The Institute is licensed to train staff for the tourism, hospitality and catering businesses, to teach students Russian as a foreign language and to provide the extra qualification “An interpreter in the sphere of vocational communication” .
The basic scientific and methodological idea of the Institute is to employ the best experience, both national and international, in teaching and training specialists, which helps them find jobs that suit them best. The international recognition is evident through the fact that The European Association of Hotel Business Schools “Eurhodip” nominated the Institute for tourism & Hospitality “The Best University of 2003
